In Australia, fish are an important recreational, commercial and cultural resource. Human influences on fish communities are therefore important to monitor, as understanding changes over time helps us better manage activities in the future. Aquatic Ecology Services has the skills and experience to undertake fish monitoring programs in estuarine and freshwater environments. We can provide monitoring programs and field support including electrofishing (boat and backpack), netting, angling and trapping. We can also provide fish salvage programs where dam dewatering is required.
Our Lead Ecologist (Tara Steele) has been trained and certified by Smith-Root, the primary international supplier of electrofishing equipment. Our staff operate under state-specific fisheries permits and have animal ethics approval for all fishing activities we undertake.
